The Road to the Heart

We attended the Human Trafficking Conference as vendors, hoping to link arms with the organizations already doing this work and to bring Nevaeh’s voice into the statewide landscape.

The conference was powerful and heavy, filled with law enforcement professionals from every branch and department. We learned so much about the women and children impacted by the crime of human trafficking. For years, law enforcement has been asking the same urgent question: How do we get them out?

The Question That Won’t Let Go

Officer after officer told us the same heartbreaking truth: there is nowhere for women to go once they’re pulled out of trafficking. There are too few resources, especially for pregnant women. One officer turned to us and said — with a sadness that told the whole story — “What do we tell ’em, you know?”

That sentence has stayed with all of us. And in that moment, it was unmistakably clear: Nevaeh is the answer to that question.

Getting to the Heart

So again we went to work. We believe that all true building unfolds from the inside out, and like everything we do with Nevaeh and our team, we needed to get right to the heart. What is the truth at the core of Nevaeh — the reason we cannot look away or slow down? What is the generational assignment God has entrusted to us? Why must this home take its place in the Kingdom as a refuge Heaven is insisting on?

And together we authored our why:

Nevaeh exists because healing and freedom change generations.

We believe every woman carries a story that God intends to restore — and when a mother heals, her baby’s life shifts, her lineage shifts, and the women before and after her are transformed.

We exist because too many women walk through pregnancy, trauma, and postpartum alone — afraid, unsupported, disconnected, and unseen. We exist because babies need their mothers, mothers need their babies, and people need safe places to release what they’ve carried for too long.

We exist because connection heals.

Because honor restores.

Because God sees every woman and every child — and He intervenes through people who say yes.

The Ones Who Said Yes

All of us building this home are the ones who have said yes. Every partner, every volunteer, every member of this team. What an honor it is to co-labor with the Lord and each other.

Carried Forward

This trip was unforgettable. One of those experiences we know we’ll look back on with so much sweetness and gratitude for this season and for each other.

And just like the road that carried us there, we’re letting this experience carry us forward — together, expectant, and dreaming about what’s possible.

Over these next few months, you’ll hear from different members of our director team as we rotate authorship of our blog and newsletter.  You’re part of Nevaeh’s becoming, and we want you to hear the heart of this work through the voices of the women shaping it from the inside out.

More soon,
